Functional Assessment

Overview

Assess the whole, Find the cause, Predict the outcome

Consistently identify the cause of symptoms. We will provide you with a fast, efficient, and client centred assessment of the whole body. This approach is the middle ground between a general read of the client’s whole structure and specific orthopaedic tests - it is a detailed method of examining the whole system and its inter-relationships to logically identify the cause.

Move from a postural model towards assessing function.

Move from an isolated orthopaedic model to use a system that is accurate and predictive.

We will show you how understanding real-life biomechancial principles will help you assess any movement for any body.

Our new approach to assessment utilises Diane Lee’s Integrated Systems Model as a base from which we combine dynamic postural & functional analysis. The easy to follow principles will help you find the cause of a problem logically and efficiently and lets you start asking better questions about how to improve the client’s function.

This tensegrity-based approach is not locked in any protocol – just based on the reality of anatomy and can be adapted to your modality. Following this this course, your treatment plans really will be tailored for each individual.

Functional Bodywork

Two 2-Day Workshops

Our clients need to function in the real-world but many assessments, treatments and sometimes even the criteria for client discharge are based on non-contextual and non-load bearing tests. By applying a fully tensegrity-based approach to manual therapy we can work in context and with loads to better prepare our clients for life in the real world.
