James Earls

James Earls is a writer, lecturer and bodyworker, specialising in Myofascial Release and Structural Integration. In recent years he has concentrated on blending movement with manual therapy to create a new functional approach to bodywork.

Increasing the understanding and practice of manual therapy has been a passion of James’ since he first started practicing bodywork over 25 years ago. Throughout his career, James has traveled widely to learn from the best educators in his field, including Thomas Myers, Art Riggs, and Gary Gray. James worked alongside Tom Myers to co-author “Fascial Release for Structural Balance”, a definitive guide to the assessment and manipulation of fascial patterns.

James is now concentrating on finding new approaches to understanding how to apply movement and myofascial principles to bodywork.

Having helped build the reputation of Anatomy Trains for Tom Myers through the UK, Europe, and worldwide, James now teaches a range of his own courses and is a regular lecturer at conferences and workshops around the globe. Renowned for his relaxed and humorous style, James is a popular presenter whose subject is applicable for a wide-ranging audience that includes osteopaths, physiotherapists, massage therapists and movement therapists.

James’ blend of movement and fascial understanding led to the publication of his well-received “Born to Walk”, an introduction to the interconnected mechanics of the body, and the more recent 'Understanding the Human Foot'.

Mark Parfitt Jones

Mark been working in the fitness industry after qualifying as a sport therapist and fitness instructor in 1996. In 2003 he qualified with Body Control Pilates and became deeply committed to the Pilates method. He continued his development and became a master teacher for both studio and matwork. He is a supervising teacher, helping qualify new teachers as well as teaching the Pilates for Hypermobility Course.

Mark is also The Body Control Pilates Associations Council Member for the south.

Through his love of movement, Mark discovered Thomas Myers’ Anatomy Trains and trained as a KMI practitioner (now known as Anatomy Trains Structural Integration) and completed the exam to become Board Certified Structural Integrator. It was around this time that Mark met James, Lucy and Owen

In 2012 Mark took on the position of conditioning tutor and module coordinator with Circomedia; an internationally recognised school offering degree courses, one of only two in the UK. He also completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Learning in Higher Education.

As well as his teaching at Circomedia Mark co-owns a Pilates Studio in Bristol, offering various sessions as well as manual therapy and Structural Integration.

Lucy Wintle

Lucy came to Pilates after sustaining a sporting injury to my shoulder and upper back. She quickly became interested in the intelligent approach to the bodywork and found that the exercises she was doing as part of a mat routine were helping to strengthen her body and eradicate the pain caused by the injury.

This revelation caused Lucy to change direction in life and train to become a Pilates Instructor. All these years later Lucy is still learning and enjoying seeing the changes in her clients’ movement patterns and strength.

Lucy has numerous qualifications but still loves to attend courses and workshops to keep up to date in many areas of specialism such as Breast Cancer and ‘the ageing population’.

In 2000 Lucy trained with Body Control Pilates to become an instructor. Many years on and Lucy is still enjoying every aspect of teaching and watching clients become stronger and change their movement patterns. A particular area of interest for me is integrating fascial movement with Pilates. Below are Lucy's principal qualifications.

In 2014 Lucy trained with Anatomy Trains in ‘Functional Release for Structural Balance’. This combination of postural body reading, massage and appropriate functional exercises provides another fantastic tool to help correct imbalances in the body

2018 Diploma in Slings Myofascial Training – Art of Motion Academy, Bern, Switzerland.
Bringing together an interest in fascia and experience as a movement teacher this course changed the way Lucy taught and trained her own body. This is a fascia-focused training course that aims to provide the body with structural integration and functionality with long-lasting benefits.

2019 EBFA (Evidence Based Fitness Academy) New York – Barefoot Strong Instructor
This course covers foot and ankle function, barefoot exercises for different foot types, barefoot balance training and barefoot running. All barefoot exercises are applicable to both men and women of all ages and skill levels from basic to professional. These are frequently integrated into Lucy's Dynamic, Balanced and Strong classes.

The answer to most questions is best offered by your nearest host course. However, if you are interested in hosting one of our courses or for any other enquiries please contact us.
